Les Trois Vallées: one of the biggest ski areas in the world

Aside from the snow park, there are also family-friendly slalom and boardercross pistes in the Les Menuires ski area. Les Menuires is located next to Saint Martin de Belleville and below Val Thorens in the world-famous linked ski area, Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys). Although Les Menuires is situated at a lower altitude than neighbouring Val Thorens, the ski area enjoys reliable snow cover thanks to the ample snow cannons. Skiing is assured from December through April - and of course, it's not difficult to get up to the higher areas of Les Trois Vallées for even more snow. A ski pass for just Les Menuires-Saint Martin gives access to 160km of mainly blue and red pistes, but shell out just a few pounds more and you'll have access to the entire Three Valleys ski area. A must-visit is the new Liberty ride zone, where you'll find ungroomed pistes with deep powder snow just waiting for you to dive in. The area is avalanche-safe and suitable for families, friends and anyone who wants to experience the thrill of skiing or snowboarding off-piste without the risk.

Family-friendly Les Menuires

Les Menuires boasts the Famille Plus label, which guarantees stress-free family ski holidays. There is daycare available for children from 3 months to 5 years of age, as well as dedicated beginners' areas and fun ski zones. The shared ski area between Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville has 37 blue pistes, 12 green pistes and 4 magic carpets. This is paradise for beginner skiers! Young and old alike can learn to ski in total tranquility, gradually upgrading to the more difficult slopes as their ability level improves. As a bonus, children under the age of 5 ski free. Off the slopes, there is an aquatic centre as well as plenty of activities and events to keep the kids busy.

For non-skiing activities on the slopes, try out fatbiking, have a go on the luge track or zip around on the alpine roller coaster. The mountains surrounding Les Menuires are kitted out with around 115km of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails. When you get back to town, indulge in some well-deserved relaxation time at one of the many spas. The Bruyères and Croisette neighbourhoods have a selection of bars and restaurants with international cuisine. The Challenge and Mousse bars have some nightlife but for a real après-ski scene, you're best off staying in another one of the resorts in Les Trois Vallées.
