Söll is located at an altitude of 703 metres, just a 15-minute drive from the border at Kufstein, in a sunny valley between the Kaiser mountains and the Hohe Salve. Thanks to its central location, the village is easy to reach, and you don't need an Austrian toll sticker to get there by car. The car-free centre of this atmospheric town is full of traditional houses with original wall paintings. Named Austria's most pedestrian-friendly village, Söll also offers extensive opportunities for skiers and hikers.
Skiers and snowboarders alike will find an excellent winter sports destination in Söll. From the village, the 10-seater Hexenwasser gondola takes winter sports enthusiasts to the slopes of SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental within minutes. Here, the pistes on the 1829-metre-high Hohe Salve are within easy reach. Still, you can also cross over to Brixen im Thale, Hopfgarten, Itter and Westendorf or take a scenic tour to Scheffau, Ellmau and Going via the Zinsberg, Eiberg, Brandstadl, Hartkaiser and Astberg. The more than 270 km of slopes offer plenty of entertainment for all ages and levels. Every day you can ski wonderful tours, such as the SkiWelt Tour. Beginners will find a practice meadow and easy slope with a drag lift in the village. In Söll, every type of winter enthusiast feels at home. Children can learn to ski in peace, but lovers of typical Tyrolean conviviality are also in the right place.
A winter sports holiday in Söll means not only great skiing but also enjoying all the delicacies Austrian cuisine has to offer. You will come across many good restaurants and mountain huts in the village and on the mountain. There is always room for a break! Be sure not to skip a visit to the Gipfelalm Hohe Salve, but not before enjoying the 360° view. At the day's end, many winter sports enthusiasts gather in the village centre for some fun après-ski. A winter sports holiday in Söll is not only suitable for skiers but also for non-skiers. You can go on beautiful hikes in the valley and mountains from the village. A wide variety of routes run through both unspoilt nature and inhabited areas. After visiting Söll, you'll know all about the Stampfanger route, the Bachl route or the Kaiser route. With the SkiWelt Wanderpass, you can use the gondolas twice a day from all SkiWelt villages for hiking tours at altitude. The four Kaiser villages of Ellmau, Going am Wilder Kaiser, Scheffau am Wilder Kaiser, and Söll offer 140 kilometres of winter hiking trails.
There is an excellent cross-country skiing network for cross-country skiers in the Wilder Kaiser region. Several trails, both easy and more challenging, start from the village and then head into the beautiful Wilder Kaiser countryside. Recommended is the 8-kilometre-long Sunnseitrunde. In all, you will find 65 kilometres of cross-country ski trails around Söll.
Söll is certainly a child-friendly winter sports destination. For the little ones, there is the KiKo Söll next to the valley station of the gondola. Here, children aged one and up are looked after and entertained all day (indoors and outdoors). There are also several practice meadows in this area. The two carpet lifts on the Hexenwiese (with adventure trail) and Mühlbichl can be accessed free of charge. Söll also offers a special programme introducing children aged three and up to exercise in the snow. Once the kids have mastered the basic techniques, they quickly move onto higher slopes. Not only in the ski area but also in the village, children will feel right at home. The centre is car-free; there is always room to sledge or build a snowman.
Söll boasts two long toboggan runs. The four km-long Lunar Toboggan run only opens in the evening and is atmospherically lit. The Hexenritt, 3.2 km long, is open every day and in the evenings from Wednesday to Saturday. Söll boasts the largest evening ski area in Austria. Those who can't get enough of the slopes have access to 10 km of runs here from Wednesday to Saturday. Those who would like to go up the mountain on touring skis will find signposted touring ski routes for day and night tours at Söll.
