One of the biggest ski areas in the US
"Almost like Austria" is what people often say when visiting Vail for the first time. The houses in Vail look similar to those in the Tirol, giving the ski resort in the Rocky Mountains a very attractive character. The three districts, Vail Village, Lionshead and Golden Peak, also offer quite varied leisure and apres-ski options. There are lively pedestrian areas with exclusive boutiques, interesting shops, bars, restaurants and clubs as well as a top-notch spa and wellness services. In addition, a free ski bus takes skiers directly to the ski area of Vail Mountain.
The skiing in Vail Mountain is not surprisingly world famous! Approximately 200 kilometers of top quality ski slopes make it one of the largest ski areas in the United States. The area consists of three sub-areas. From Vail you go directly to the Front Side of the ski area, where you will find the three snow parks, Golden Peak Park for the experts and beginners and kids sized jumps, boxes, and rails in the Simba and Pride parks under the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Behind them, the Ski Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin areas extend with fantastic opportunities for all skiers in the infamous deep, powder snow. Vail can be reached by coach or rental car from Denver International Airport via Interstate 70 (1-70) west.
