The Powder Mountain Resort ski area is located in Utah, not too far from the ski resorts that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. An abundance of fresh powder and relatively uncrowded lifts make this ski resort a great little hidden secret. The base area at Powder Mountain is mostly residential, and most visitors usually choose to stay in the nearby towns of Eden (18km) or the bigger town of Ogden (38km). There are, however, plans to develop a purpose-built ski village called 'Summit' just down the road from Powder Mountain.
A former trading fort, Ogden now revolves around winter and other outdoor sports in the Wasatch Mountain Range. The town has retained an eclectic feel that commemorates its history, from trading town through the Prohibition and onto the present. Classic architecture, a generous portion of gourmet restaurants and a friendly, welcoming vibe will have you feeling right at home.
Alternate activities
In and around the city of Ogden you’ll find art strolls through the city, spa facilities, skydiving, hot air balloon flights, several museums and theatres, a comedy club, rock climbing, a cinema, a swimming pool, a bowling alley and an ice skating rink where you can skate yourself or watch a local hockey match.
Restaurants and bars
There are three mid-mountain stations where you can grab a quick bite to eat on the slopes. For more extensive culinary pursuits, it’s best to check out Ogden town just down the road. Night owls can explore the many bars on Historic 25th Street - don’t miss the aptly named Brewskis pub.
Families
Ski lessons are offered for children starting from the age of three-and-a-half. Kids will love Toad’s Fun Zone in Ogden city.
