Northstar puts the focus on wide groomers and approachable terrain. The mountain is easy to navigate and a veritable gem for beginner and intermediate skiers. The terrain mostly lies below the treeline, which means some beautiful runs through the trees. These trees also protect against the wind, meaning Northstar’s slopes will stay open longer than surrounding ski resorts on particularly gusty days.

Northstar is fairly low-lying compared to its neighbouring ski resorts. However, thanks to the sophisticated snowmaking facilities, you’ll never have to worry about snow cover here. Northstar boasts world-class snow parks, the cream of the crop being a superpipe designed by famous snowboarder Shaun White. Freeriding experts who are looking for more challenging terrain might want to travel to nearby Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows.
