Big Sky in short

  • Down-to-earth vibe
  • Ski-in, ski-out accommodation
  • Next to Yellowstone National Park

Located just to the northwest of breathtaking Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky boasts one of the largest ski areas in North America and was the winter home of famous skiing film director Warren Miller. Its laid-back atmosphere belies the big claims - Big Sky has managed to avoid the massive mergers that are currently plaguing many of North America’s ski resorts.

At the base area you’ll find a handful of ski-in, ski-out accommodation and a few shops and restaurants. It’s all about the snow sports here, with a variety on offer including sledging, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. But if you feel like relaxing, that’s fine too - the recently opened Solace Spa & Salon will be happy to cater to your every need. The easiest way to get to Big Sky is to take a connecting flight into the Bozeman/Big Sky airport.

Alternate activities

At Big Sky you can also go ziplining, snowshoeing, bungee trampolining, snow swinging, dogsledding, snowcoach touring, sledging, snowmobile touring, cross-country skiing or relax in the spa.

Restaurants and bars

There are numerous restaurants and bars within easy reach of the slopes at Big Sky. For a unique experience, have supper at the Montana Dinner Yurt, located halfway up the mountain. Après-ski at the Moonlight Lodge Tavern offers happy hour and live music, with views of the slopes.

Families

Childcare is available at the Lone Peak Playhouse for children 6 months and older. Group lessons are available starting from age 4, and if you’re nurturing the next Shaun White, private lessons are available for children aged 2-3.
