Glenshee Ski Centre is the biggest ski area in the UK, with 40km of pistes spanning three valleys and four mountains in total. The ski area sits at an altitude of 650m-900m in the Scottish Highlands. Glenshee hosted the first-ever British Snowboarding Championships and more recently welcomed the Scottish Snowboarding Championships.
Glenshee offers three ski and snowboard schools to choose from, including lessons in freestyling, ski touring and telemarking. There is a decent beginners’ area near the car park with a good range of nursery slopes, plus a couple dozen blue and red pistes which cater to intermediate skiers and boarders. Experts can tackle the infamous moguled Tiger or the steep Glas Maol. There is a timed slalom course at Cairnwell, as well as a weather-dependent snow park, a half-pipe at the Plastic and some quarter-pipes at Butchart’s Coire for freestylers. Ski touring in the spectacular area around Glenshee is also possible for people with avalanche awareness training.
