Skiing or snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada

Beautiful ski area, nereby Granada
Sun, sea and beaches are probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Andalusia. Add snow to that list, too. The Sierra Nevada, the mountain range with Spain's highest peaks, is home to a beautiful ski resort with plenty of snow in winter. Sierra Nevada means mountain peaks covered in snow and that is certainly the case in winter time.
Ski holiday in Andalusia in the Sierra Nevada
With as many as 16 peaks exceeding 3,000 meters in height, the Sierra Nevada is, after the Alps, the highest mountain range in Western Europe. The highest peak is the 3482-metre Mulhacén, which you can admire from several points in the Sierra Nevada ski resort. The ski destination is also called Solynieve, meaning sun and snow in Spanish. Not a strange combination with over 80% of sunny days per year. The ski resort is about 32 km drive from the popular, historic city of Granada. Historically and culturally, Granada has a lot to offer. From the Alhambra to the many restaurants!
