With as many as 16 peaks exceeding 3,000 meters in height, the Sierra Nevada is, after the Alps, the highest mountain range in Western Europe. The highest peak is the 3482-metre Mulhacén, which you can admire from several points in the Sierra Nevada ski resort. The ski destination is also called Solynieve, meaning sun and snow in Spanish. Not a strange combination with over 80% of sunny days per year. The ski resort is about 32 km drive from the popular, historic city of Granada.
