Ski area Voss

Voss comprises two ski areas: Voss Resort, located adjacent to the town, and Myrkdalen, 20km away. Both ski areas are covered by one pass. Voss Resort (or Voss Bavallen, as it is known locally), is conveniently situated right next to the town and can be reached via an old gondola from the centre, or by a modern chairlift in the Bavallen district. Plans are underway to replace the old gondola with a newer, faster one. Although most of the slopes in Voss are wide, gentle beginner and intermediate runs, there are a few challenging pistes for more experienced skiers as well as some exciting off-piste routes. Piste #19 is long, by Norwegian standards, and leads all the way down to the valley. From Hangurs Restaurant you’ll have a nice view of Voss and the surrounding area. This is the perfect ski area for families with children.

Myrkdalen (formerly known as Voss Fjellandsby) is located 20km from Voss and is a real ski-in, ski-out resort. A particularly snow-sure destination, Myrkdalen is guaranteed to be blanketed in snow from the end of November through to the beginning of May. Almost all the snow here is natural, with only a few snow cannons for the valley runs. The first chairlift at Myrkdalen was constructed in 2002 and since then it has been rapidly developing. This young and ambitious ski resort is sure to continue expanding further in the coming years. At the moment the ski area has 20 pistes, served by two new chairlifts and several tow lifts. On-piste accommodation exists in the form of typical Norwegian cabins or in the deluxe modern Myrkdalen Hotel. Like Voss, Myrkdalen is beloved by families and off-piste enthusiasts. Both ski areas are known for being peaceful, with perfectly groomed pistes and hardly any queues.
