Sjusjøen in short

  • Height: 700 metres
  • Charming chalets
  • Cross-country skiing paradise
  • Just 20km from Lillehammer

Sjusjøen village is connected to the Sjusjøen Skisenter. The downhill ski area has just 7km of pistes, but is beloved by cross-country skiers for its endless network of beautiful trails through the Norwegian winter landscapes. Guests can stay in typical Norwegian houses. The village is not enormous but has everything you need for a great winter holiday, including a supermarket and a shop where you can rent your ski and snowboard equipment.

There is a small ski area with 7km of pistes accessible from Sjusjøen via chairlift. This is a good destination for beginners and families, but not so much for a whole week of skiing. If you’re hankering after more terrain, consider buying a Lillehammer ski pass, which gets you access to the four ski areas of Lillehammer/Hafjell, Skeikampen, Kvitfjell and Gålå. Host city for the 1994 Winter Olympics, Lillehammer/Hafjell is just 20km away. In stark contrast to the scant downhill offering, Sjusjøen boasts around 350km of cross-country trails, making it one of the largest cross-country trail networks in Europe. After a day of skiing, head towards the Sjusjøen Cafe and indulge in one of the tasty homemade snacks. Afterwards, make your way to the Ski Pub for an après-ski drink.
