The Hochpustertal ski area is well-known for being a true paradise for cross-country skiers, who can literally cross the Dolomites on the northern side of South Tyrol. There are around 200km of cross-country ski trails here, offering fantastic views all along the way. But this is not the only reason to come to this area! The ski resorts here are easily accessible by train and have all kept an atmosphere typical of days gone by regardless of their increasing popularity as ski holiday destinations.
The ski area, with over 50km of well groomed downhill ski slopes, is especially adapted to beginner skiers and snowboarders with most of the skiing situated on and around the 2400m high Thurntaler mountain. The slopes are wide and pleasant and there is a relaxed atmosphere everywhere you go. There are some good black runs here but the more avid skiers can buy a Super-skipass which gives access to an area totalling 1200km of ski slopes!
