Off-the-beaten-track ski area
The Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area was created in 2011 by way of a connecting lift between the Jochtal and the Gitschberg. From Vals, the Valler Jochl is accessible via a gondola lift. At the top you'll find the modern and atmospheric Jochtal mountain restaurant. The slopes on this side of the mountain are challenging, as is the valley run. On the other side of the road a gondola leads to two beautiful wide blue runs and the gondola which will take you back to the Gitschberg.
The Gitschberg has mostly wide red pistes that are accessible by chair and drag lifts. In the village of Meransen there is a nice nursery slope for beginner skiers. From the mountain tops you have a fantastic view of the Dolomites. Families with children will feel at home in this quiet and cozy ski area with Italian flair. Delicious specialties are served in the mountain huts for a reasonable price.
