Modern, fast gondola lift – plus many tow lifts
The Willingen ski area has relatively long slopes and beautiful views. The modern gondola lift instantly gives you that true winter sports feeling. It’s quieter here than in nearby Winterberg, but snow conditions can change quickly – something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit. Willingen offers a small, compact ski area with slopes on the mountains – Ettelsberg and Hoppernkopf – featuring easy to intermediate slopes. Beginners can learn to ski in ideal conditions, children will have plenty of fun in the various dedicated areas, and experienced skiers can enjoy the longest slope in the Sauerland.
Willingen ski area in the Sauerland
The Willingen ski area offers over 17 kilometres of pistes and shouldn’t be compared to the large Alpine resorts. The mountains are lower, and the runs shorter. The longest pistes are found on the Ettelsberg (838 metres) and Hoppernkopf. Here, you can ski non-stop for 3 to 4 minutes on runs up to 2.3 km long. On the Ettelsberg, a few steeper sections may be challenging for less experienced skiers. The ski area also features several piste-side restaurants and mountain huts with a cosy après-ski atmosphere. A ski pass valid for three days or more also gives access to other ski areas in the Wintersport Arena Sauerland. For example, you can also spend a day skiing in Skiliftkarussell Winterberg, Snow World Züschen or the Schmallenberger Sauerland.
