Berchtesgadener Land offers to perfect place to spend a winter holiday if you're looking for a relaxing ski area away from the hustle and bustle of the typical big ski resort. Although not technically a ski resort, since the slopes are located several kilometres away, Berchtesgaden is nevertheless a welcoming, authentic town with plenty to do.
There are six ski areas within reach of Berchtesgadener, which together offer more than 60km of slopes. Most of the ski areas are best-suited to beginners, although the Jenner ski area has some challenging red slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers. Easiest to reach from the town of Berchtesgaden is the Obersalzberg ski area, which has a dedicated children's area for the smallest skiers. Rossfeld has a snow park with a halfpipe and boardercross where freestylers can practice their jumps and tricks. The different ski areas are connected by ski buses and gondolas.
