Ski area Skikarussell Altastenberg

Skikarussell Altastenberg is a small but charming ski area in the Sauerland, located on the edge of the village centre of Altastenberg. Situated on the slopes of the 843-metre-high Kahler Asten, it offers 8 km of pistes spread across 17 runs, all served exclusively by drag lifts. The ski school meeting point and the children’s area are conveniently located right next to the large car park in the village. There are also five cosy mountain huts where you can take a break.

Skikarussell Altastenberg: small but nice

Skikarussell Altastenberg is especially popular with families, beginners and day-trippers. Although just 5 km from the centre of Winterberg, it offers a completely different winter sports experience. Ski passes are affordably priced, and the area’s small scale creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It’s usually much quieter here than in the neighbouring resort. The pistes range from blue to red, with just two black runs. A standout is Black Run 3 – the only FIS-certified race piste in the Sauerland. With a maximum gradient of 40%, it regularly hosts regional competitions. Can’t get enough of skiing? Some pistes are also floodlit on select evenings. For a bit of après-ski fun, head to the cosy Schwedenhütte.
