The sunny ski resort of Bessans situated at an altitude of 1750 meters above sea level, is on the edge of the National Parc Vanoise and is a perfect place for nature lovers as well as those looking for a quiet ski holiday. There are only around 350 inhabitants in the tiny ski resort of Bessans and this means there is an authentic village atmosphere here.
Each winter there are some great events organised in the resort of Bessans and the ski area of Val Cenis is easily accessible. Bessans is known for its prehistoric paintings in local caves. The village's chapel, La Chapelle Saint Antoine, built in 1376, is part of a large network of highly-prized chapels in the region.
