The modern buildings of the ski resort of Orcières-Merlette are surrounded by a marvellous landscape with a spectacular view of Mount Le Drouvet, with its summit at over 2650m of altitude. The ski area is situated on the edge of the National Park of Ecrins, 40 km northeast of Gap, benefiting from the pleasant and sunny weather often found in the Southern Alps. The many perfect ski slopes here are a solid guarantee of a wonderful ski holiday for ski enthusiasts.
The ski area has 28 lifts giving access to 85km of ski runs where snow is assured by 18 snow cannons. There is also an impressive 50km of cross-country skiing accessible from here. This ski area's orientation guarantees lots of sunshine which means many tourists return year after year knowing they can count on favourable weather conditions which have made this resort famous. You can enjoy long days of skiing on superb slopes and then ski all the way back to the resort at the end of the day. For those looking for an adrenaline rush, there is a great snow park and some fantastic off-piste skiing here.
