Since the creation of the Parc Regional de Vercors in 1970, the Le Vecors ski area has become a popular tourist attraction in the Vercors massif mountain range. The main winter sport here is cross-country skiing. In this great area there are several hundred kilometers of trails mainly through the woods.
Of course, one can also practice other winter sports in Le Vercors ski area such as downhill skiing and snowboarding. The 3 ski resorts of Villard de Lans, Autrans and Lans en Vercors all share this ski area and make up over 160 km of pistes for all levels. During the Winter Olympics of 1968, the bobsleigh competition was held in this ski area and since then Villard de Lans has become well-known outside of France.
