The village is situated north of the Bauges, a confluence of the rivers St. Ruph en Tamie, south of Faverges. Seythenex is best known for its stunning caves and waterfalls and the La Sambuy-Seythenex ski area.
Little is known about the history of the village of Seythenex, but there was formerly a Roman road at the site of the village. Seythenex has a church dating back to 1851, dedicated to St. Sigismund built in a neoclassical Sardinian style. In 1960, a ski lift was opened here. In winter there is good skiing here and in the summer you can hike in the beautiful natural surroundings of Bauges. The village is not very lively with just a few restaurants and bars but not much else. Seythenex is the perfect for nature lovers and families with young children on their first ski holidays.
