Quiet village with few tourists
Auris en Oisans is perched at an altitude of more than 1600m above sea level in the Grandes Rousses mountain range, the ideal retreat for anyone who loves peace and quiet but who also likes to have endless kilometres of slopes to choose from. Despite the small size of the ski resort of Auris, it offers everything you would expect from a modern ski resort. It is a very cosy and sunny little resort. From nearly anywhere in the resort you can enjoy magnificent views of Les Deux Alpes. Like the sister resorts of Alpe d'Huez, Oz-en-Oisans and Vaujany, Auris en Oisans provides easy access to the slopes of the Alpe d'Huez ski area.
The Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine ski area has 250km slopes suitable for all levels, with snow parks, funslopes, excellent off-piste and perfectly groomed pistes for carving. Separated from the rest of the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine ski area by the Gorges de Sarenne, the ski resort of Auris en Oisans has managed to keep the crowds to a minimum. Here you can ski on challenging red and black runs with incredible panoramic views of the snowy peaks in the Ecrins National Park, from an angle you won’t get anywhere else in the ski area. Just be warned – getting to Auris en Oisans from the main part of the Alpe d’Huez ski area requires taking a slightly terrifying chairlift ride which plunges down into the valley before bringing you back up to the slopes!
