Largest ski area in the Haute Maurienne
The largest ski area of the French Haute Maurienne belongs to the ski resorts of Valmeiner and Valloire. Most of the 150 kilometres of slopes are located in the latter resort, making it the most popular ski resort in the area.
Most of the ski slopes are north-facing meaning that the snow doesn't spoil quickly here. Cross-country skiers can enjoy 40 kilometres of trails in the area and there's a fun park with a half-pipe for snowboarders. No-one gets bored here! Valloire is a traditional, rather rustic French ski resort crowded around its 17th century Baroque church. The laid back charm in this resort ensures a relaxed ski holiday. The friendly village atmosphere and easy skiing makes it a great place for young families too. It is also an ideal resort for those looking for a good value for money ski resort for a low-key ski holiday. There are plenty of restaurants and lively bars but the nightlife doesn't get too rowdy in general.
