The ski area of Col d'Ornon is located in the eponymous mountain pass of the same name. The ski area is small but has a good, varied choice of slopes, mostly for beginners and intermediate skiers although there are 12km of black pistes. Generally, there is plenty of snow in the Col d'Ornon ski area, which lies between 1350 meters and 2000 meters of altitude.
The Col d'Ornon ski area consists of two sections. In the low station, there are two green slopes with a ski lift, perfect for beginners and children. In the high station ( which starts at 900 meters of altitude) you will find the blue, red and black ski runs. One of the black runs is among the steepest pistes in l'Isere region! The Col d'Ornon ski area is also great for sledding (in the lower station). You can also practice Nordic or cross-country skiing here as there is network of 21 km of beautiful cross-country trails which cut through the woods and open spaces.
