Le Ballon d'Alsace is a mountain village which becomes a ski resort in the winter in the southern part of the Vosges, on the border of Alsace. The area lies at an altitude of 1247 meters above sea level and offers a splendid panorama of the Black Forest, the Jura Belfort, the Bernese Alps and the Mont Blanc. The villages at the foot of the Ballon d' Alsace are: Sewen, Saint - Maurice - sur - Mosell, Plancher -les -Mines and Belfort.
The area of Le Ballon d'Alsace is beautiful, with lovely grassy plains in the summer months and a unique flora and fauna. There are two hotels and three restaurants on the mountain. There are also a few apartments for rent and you can stay in one of the farms here. For more choice of shops, bars and restaurants, Belfort is the nearest town. Le Ballon d'Alsace has a few sights worth seeing such as the statue of Joan of Arc. For the views alone, it is worth visiting Le Ballon d'Alsace. There is a small alpine ski area here but the area is particularly appreciated for its cross-country skiing. It is also possible to try dog sledding or snowshoeing in Le Ballon d'Alsace.
