The Le Ballon d'Alsace ski area has 10 km of ski slopes, most of which are beginner slopes. The area has only a few lifts and is perfect for beginners and families with young children. There is an ESF ski school here giving ski, snowboard, cross-country ski lessons as well as snowshoeing tours. Around the slopes there are two hotels and three restaurants. From the ski slopes you have a beautiful view of the Black Forest, the Jura Belfort, the Bernese Alps and the Mont Blanc. The Le Ballon d'Alsace ski area is labelled "2 Nordiques" by "Nordique France" which means it has good cross-country skiing facilities. There are 40km of trails in the area and a special area for beginners.
