Ascou is a small, unknown ski resort in Ariege in the Midi-Pyrenees. It has only 139 inhabitants but changes quite drastically in the winter during the ski season, thanks to the Ascou - Pailheres ski area. Just on the other side of the mountain pass is the ski resort of Mijanes - Donezan.
The main attraction in the village of Ascou - Pailhères is a parish church with a statue of the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus - this is actually a historical monument. Appart from this, there are no restaurants and only one snack bar so you'll have to invent your own apres-ski in Ascou! However, Ascou is surrounded by thousands of fir trees and beautiful mountain peaks so you can really appreciate the beautiful natural setting of the village. In winter, the area is snow-sure and there are many facilities for children. The resort is small sccale and so is the ski area, making Ascou - Pailhères the perfect place for family skiing holidays.
