Ascou - Pailheres is a small ski area in the French Pyrenees. It is located above the ski resort of Ascou and on the other side of the mountain pass from the Mijanes - Donezan ski area. The Ascou - Pailhères ski area is dominated by the peak of the Tarbesou mountain (2364m). The ski area is situated 1490 meters and 1990 meters of altitude and generally has good snow conditions. From the top of the Ascou - Pailheres ski area you can catch a glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea on a clear day.
Ascou - Pailheres has 15 km of pistes fairly evening shared out: 3 km of green slopes, 4 km of blue slopes, 6 km of red slopes and only 2 km of black runs for the expert skiers. This means this ski area is especially suitable for beginners and families with young children. Ascou - Pailheres is quite a young ski area as it was only opened in the winter of 1965. It is a snow-sure area with 26 snow cannons in the event of bad snowfalls. As well as skiing, there are many trails for snowshoeing and hiking. The ski area has several amenities such as a ski hire shop, but there is only a one snack bar so don't expect too much. Ascou - Pailhères is all about low-key skiing holidays.
