The Ancelles area was, in its early years, particularly popular with people of Marseille, but nowadays Ancelles is popular among many French people who come from all over to ski here on the sunny ski slopes. The ski area lies between an altitude of 1350 meters and 1800 meters above sea level and is very near Grenoble (100 km) making it an excellent choice of ski resort for weekend skiing trips.
The Ancelles ski area is easily accessible from the ski resort of Ancelle and offers beautiful, wide slopes and with distant views. The snow is generally very good here and about 80% of the ski area is equipped with snow cannons. There are about 14 sunny slopes (over 30 km in total), of which 8 km are green runs, 10 km are blue runs, 10 km are red runs and for the experts, 2 km of black runs. Ancelles is ideal for beginners and families with young children. On the ski slopes there are some cozy bars with nice terraces and in the resort, there are also plenty of restaurants and bars.
