Sunniest ski resort in British Columbia
Located in the heart of Canada’s renowned Powder Highway, Kimberley Alpine Resort is a quintessential Canadian ski resort with terrain for every level of skier and snowboarder. There is a small cluster of shops and restaurants at the base of the ski area, and the small but feisty town of Kimberley is just down the road. Kimberley prides itself on its welcoming and relaxing atmosphere away from the big-city hustle and bustle.
Kimberley is a former mining town and you can still visit several museums which cover the history of this fascinating town. In the late 1900’s Kimberley went through a bizarre phase where it was known as the “Bavarian Town of the Rockies” and this influence can still be seen in some of the architecture today. Kimberley has a thriving culture scene so don’t hesitate to check out the local artists and keep an eye out for live music and theatre performances, including live après-ski concerts at weekends. Kimberley is a four-and-a-half hour drive from Calgary International Airport, or a 20-minute drive from the Canadian Rockies International Airport.
Alternate activities
Aside from skiing at Kimberley Alpine Resort, you can also go cross-country skiing, heli-skiing, dogsledding, snowshoeing, fat biking, ice skating and roasting marshmallows over the bonfire.
Restaurants and bars
There are several on-mountain restaurants at Kimberley - get your après-ski session started at the Stemwinder and then consider moving on down to Kimberley town centre.
Families
There is childcare available for children aged 18 months-5 years. Ski lessons are available from the age of 3, with special freeriding camps for teens and pre-teens.
