Kimberley Alpine Resort lies in the Purcell Mountains on British Columbia’s Powder Highway in western Canada. It receives almost 4 metres yearly (and a whopping 6.5m in the 2017/18 ski season!) of the light, dry champagne powder that characterises this region of Canada. This is a perfect choice for powder hounds and also for families, as the ski resort is not too intimidating. A small village at the base has everything you need for rest, relaxation - and après-ski, of course! Ski season runs from December to April.
The ski area at Kimberley is split into four subsections: Northstar Mountain, Tamarack Ridge, Vimy Ridge and the Black Forest. Northstar Mountain is ideal for beginners, with specially designed kids’ trails and gentle pistes, some of which wind through the trees. The Owl Learning Area at the bottom happens to be conveniently placed next to the ski-in, ski-out accommodations and slopeside hot tubs. As the entire resort lies beneath the treeline, the rest of the mountain is quite focused on gladed runs, steep pistes that allow you to take advantage of Kimberley’s champagne powder snow. Night skiing is offered several times a week, with a beautiful view of the stars and occasional freestyle events.
