Après-ski is something Austria does very well. For many winter sports enthusiasts, this is the deciding factor for booking a skiing holiday in Austria. Often, the fun starts early in the afternoon in the huts on the slopes and continues in the village until early morning. Some time ago, you could already read a post about the cosiest après-ski villages in Austria. Today we'll present the best après-ski bars in the country.
1. Cin-Cin in Gerlos
Besides fantastic skiing on the slopes of the Zillertal Arena, Gerlos is also known for great parties. The Cin-Cin has been the place to go for years. The first winter sports enthusiasts start filling the bar early in the afternoon. This place is busy day and night, so wild dancing isn't easy here. After closing hours, you can continue across the street in the Cin-Cin Partykeller!
2. Gerry's Inn in Westendorf
In Westendorf, a visit to Gerry's Inn is a must. During the day, it's a mountain hut, perfect for catching some sun on the terrace. In the afternoon, it turns into a party palace. Gerry's Inn is set at the bottom of the slopes, so you can crawl home afterwards! Every day you can enjoy the best après-ski hits and fun singers.
3. Hofstadl in Flachau
The Hofstadl is also among Austria's best and most convivial après-ski bars. It is located at the bottom of the Hermann Maier FIS World Cup descent in Flachau. Day in, day out, it's one big party here. You can order beer and wine per glass, but they are also served in special taps. It saves a few trips to the bar!
4. Goaßstall in Hinterglemm
In Hinterglemm, which is part of the Skicircus, you can have great fun after skiing. There is no shortage of cosy après-ski bars! The Goaßsstal has been the place to be for years. A former goat stable has grown into a large wooden après-ski barn, where people party hard every day. The bar is located by the slopes, and the music can be heard from afar.
5. Mooserwirt in St. Anton am Arlberg
If you talk about après-ski in St. Anton am Arlberg, Mooserwirt will be the first place that comes to mind. It is undoubtedly one of Austria's most fun and well-known après-ski bars. Located on the slopes, the Mooserwirt guarantees a festive end to a ski day. Most après-skiers know how to find the bar early and are annoyed when the music stops around 20.00. Finding your skis again when tipsy can be difficult, let alone the descent to the valley! Everyone gets down, but don't ask how!
6. De Eisbar in Kirchberg
The Eisbar in Kirchberg is the perfect place for après-ski. It opened in 2005 and has been famous in the village ever since. You can expect to find the greatest hits, regular performances and lots of fun. If you get hungry from all that dancing and jumping, you can climb the stairs and enjoy some food at the snack bar Mr Snack!
7. Trofana Alm in Ischgl
In Ischgl, you can enjoy almost 240 km of slopes, followed by great après-ski. There's a wide choice of cosy après-ski bars in Ischgl, but as far as we are concerned, Trofana Alm is the cosiest. A big bear above the entrance welcomes you on arrival, and once inside, you can party on two floors! This is also the right place for good food, by the way. The restaurant has been awarded a chef's hat by Gault&Millau.
8. Fabels in Ellmau
The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental ski area is a great destination for après-ski. Besides Westendorf, the village of Ellmau is also the place to go. During the day you can go to Fabels for a drink or lunch, and towards the end of the afternoon, for après-ski. Feeling peckish? No snack bar here, but a snack wall. Delicious!
9. Hohenhaus Tenne in Schladming
When in Schladming, you absolutely must visit the Hohenhaus Tenne. It's a huge après-ski bar, even one of the biggest in Austria. Both inside and out, the bar looks beautiful, traditional and with lots of wood. You will find it at the bottom of the Planai. The après-ski here is in Austrian style. Partying goes on on several floors, and great fun is guaranteed.
10. Brück'n Stadl in Mayrhofen
Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley offers more than enough possibilities for après-ski. One tip is the Brück'n Stadl. This large, traditional-looking pub is the place to party night after night. Regularly, well-known après-ski artists perform; otherwise, DJs blast the best hits from the speakers.
11. Hexenalm in Fiss
The Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is known as one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in the Alps. Yet it is also the right place for a fun party after skiing. At the Hexenalm in Fiss, young and old alike can enjoy great après-ski. From 15.00 onwards, the mountain restaurant turns into a party venue. Dance, have a drink and let the kids play together.
12. SchnapsHans-Alm in Zell am See
Whether it is snowing or sunny, there is always a party at the legendary SchnapsHans-Alm. It is located next to the mountain station of the Schmittenhöhe cable car in Zell am See. In the afternoon, this mountain hut transforms into an après-ski venue. Bear in mind that you still have to ski down to the valley afterwards.
