Fans of skiing and original reality TV series will be delighted to hear that The Jump is coming back for a 2nd series very soon. After a very successful first series last year featuring a host of popular Brit celebrities such as Darren Gough, Melinda Messenger, Anthea Turner, Amy Childs, Sinitta, Kimberly Wyatt, and the winning participant Joe McElderry, Channel 4 commissioned a 2nd series of The Jump hosted by Davina McCall. Will you be watching the next round of celebs risking their lives in skin tight ski suits???

The Jump – a flying start!

Davina McCall and Alex Brooker hosted the first series of The Jump which made a flying start and averaged approximately 2.4 million viewers per episode last winter. The participants were trained by snow sports stars - Winter Olympic skier Graham Bell, skeleton British gold medallist Amy Williams and Britain's first ever Olympic ski jumper, the infamous Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.

The aim of The Jump

Famous celebrities take on some of the most dangerous and challenging winter sports as they compete to be crowned champion of The Jump! The snow sports include a giant slalom, speed skating, two-man bobsleigh, skeleton (an Olympic sport where the participant rides head-first, lying face down on a sled) and, of course, the final JUMP!

The Jump – who’s up for series 2?

The Jump series 2 will bring together 16 Brit celebrities who have already begun their tough training in Innsbruck in Austria. The ladies’ list includes: Heather Mills, Ashley Roberts, Stacey Solomon, Lady Victoria Hervey, Louise Hazel and Louise Thompson. Sally Bercow has been replaced by Jodie Kidd as she was forced to pull out of the series after fracturing two ribs during training! The latest replacement is Chloe Madeley who will take over from Ola Jordan who has suffered a leg and hip injury which will put her out of action for 9 months! On the men’s list: Mike Tindall, Ex-England Rugby captain, Jack Ass star Steve-O, JB Gill, Jon-Allan Butterworth, Louie Spence, Dom Parker, Phil Tufnell and Joey Essex – no injuries on the men’s side yet!

Preparations for The Jump are underway

As the public prepares themselves for series 2 of The Jump, the celebrity participants will go head-to-head in a skeleton race reaching speeds of up to 60mph with the fastest women and men automatically qualifying for the show. The slower participants will have to take part in a live ski jump to keep their place in the show – if they don’t qualify, they will join the Subs Bench!

About Gareth

Skiing was something that was sort of forced on me as a child. When my parents signed me up for the school ski trip when I was 11, I think I sulked for a whole month! However, I have no idea how to thank them as I haven’t looked back since!
