Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… the white stuff has arrived in the Alps!

The first snow has fallen across the Alps and everyone in the ski industry is jumping for joy! For us here at Snowplaza, it's always a magical moment when the first snow falls and we can make our first snow reports. For us it means the countdown to the beginning of the ski season 2014/2015 has officially started. It has snowed right across the Alps but this year, it is the Austrian ski resorts which have been blessed with heavy first snowfalls over the last few days. Just to really get you in the mood for the coming ski season, we selected the best photos and webcam shots from the last few days from the Austrian, Swiss and French ski resorts.

Snow Report: what’s the situation in the Alps?

The heaviest snowfalls were on Wednesday and Thursday in the Austria Alps in particular the northern regions of the Alps and the Tyrol. In some ski resorts like Solden, Lech and St. Anton im Arlberg have already had up to 100 cm of fresh snow up on the highest slopes. The webcams in St Anton give the impression we are already in high season! In Switzerland, St. Moritz has also had a huge dump of snow. The higher ski resorts in France such as Tignes have had their first snow too! Unfortunately, warm weather is expected this weekend and over the next week with temperatures as high as 7-11 degrees at an altitude of 1,500 meters, so most of this beautiful first snow will end up in the streams in the valleys! So, enjoy the beautiful photos of the first snow in the Alps we will keep you posted on upcoming snowfalls to get you ready for your next ski holidays.

About Gareth

Skiing was something that was sort of forced on me as a child. When my parents signed me up for the school ski trip when I was 11, I think I sulked for a whole month! However, I have no idea how to thank them as I haven’t looked back since!
