Best value for money skiing in France
Of course, everyone wants to know where to find the cheapest ski passes but we thought it would be interesting to compare ski pass prices to find out where the best value for money skiing can be found in France. We decided the best way to judge whether skiing in a particular ski area is good value for money or not was to calculate the price per kilometre of ski slope. The results were quite interesting. The large ski areas such as Les Portes du Soleil (Avoriaz, Les Gets and Morzine), The Three Valleys (Val Thorens, Courchevel, Meribel) and Paradiski (La Plagne and Les Arcs) may well have some of the most expensive ski passes in France but they actually offer the best value for money skiing in France! You may be tempted to go to a small ski resort to pay less for your ski passes but if you are a good skier who can cover many kilometres in one day, you may well change your mind when you see these figures concerning ski pass prices.
Avoriaz, Les Portes du Soleil
You can see that at a very modest €0.37/kilometre, Les Portes du Soleil offers the best value for money skiing in France with the Three Valleys not far behind at €0.47/kilometre. You just have to be a good enough skier to make the most of the 650km of slopes! The small but popular ski resort of Sainte Foy may be a better option for a cheaper ski holiday but at a very expensive €3.82/kilometre you certainly don't get such good value for money skiing.
Resort | Ski pass price | No. of km | Price/km |
---|---|---|---|
Les Portes du Soleil (Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz) | €242.50 | 650 | €0.37 |
The Three Valleys (Val Thorens, Meribel, Courchevel | €283.00 | 600 | €0.47 |
Paradiski (La Plagne, Les Arcs) | €285.00 | 425 | €0.67 |
Espace Killy (Val d'Isere & Tignes) | €260.00 | 300 | €0.87 |
Sainte Foy | €156.50 | 41 | €3.82 |
