Mölltal Glacier offers summer skiing for every level
The ski season at the Mölltal Glacier starts on Saturday, June 16 with almost 20km of downhill pistes at snow-sure altitudes up to 3122m above sea level. The majority of the slopes are blue and thus well-suited for beginners and families. However, advanced skiers and snowboarders can tackle some more challenging steep pistes, and freestylers will no doubt enjoy the snow park. If there is sufficient snow, there is also some excellent off-piste trails through powder available for experienced freeriders who are well-trained in avalanche rescue and armed with the necessary equipment.

Ski-in, ski-out accommodation on the glacier
For the perfect weekend ski holiday at the Mölltal Glacier, we recommend staying at the Weißseehaus, perched at an altitude of 2380m above sea level. This family-run ski-in, ski-out hotel has just thirteen rooms with magnificent views of the mountains, as well as a sauna and a relaxation room so you can kick back and relax after a day on the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders will be in good hands with the host, who also happens to be a mountain guide and certified ski and snowboard instructor who can show you his favourite powder stashes!
Mölltal Glacier will be open through the summer until the end of the 2018/19 ski season
Once it opens on June 16, the Mölltal Glacier is scheduled to remain open through the winter until May 12, 2019. This glacier ski area in the southern Austrian province of Carinthia has nine lifts in total; skiers looking for a challenge should try the FIS World Cup piste, one of the most demanding slopes on the glacier. If you’re more of a cross-country skier, there is a lovely 2.5km long high-altitude trail to train on. Once you’re skied out, you can grab a quick après-ski drink at the Eissee mountain restaurant (2800m) and lounge on the sundeck while you watch the skiers go by.
