Finally, a long weekend! The chocolate and bunnies at Easter are all good and well, but true skiers and boarders know that, more importantly, this might be the last good opportunity to take a quick jaunt to the Alps this year. Instead of looking for eggs amongst the spring flowers, the forecast this weekend calls for powder snow and après-ski! But which ski resort to choose, which to choose? We’ve taken a look at ski resorts in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France and chosen the top 5 ski resorts for an Easter ski holiday. From Good Friday through Easter Monday, that’s a decent holiday!
Good Friday: Saalbach Hinterglemm
If you’re after après-ski, you’ll find plenty of it on Good Friday in Saalbach at the White Pearl Mountain Days, when Graham Candy and Saintro P. rock the stage on the Wallegg Alm. The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn has special Easter discounts starting from March 17: upon purchase of a four-day adult lift pass, children receive their pass for free! Families visiting on Easter Sunday can partake in Easter-themed arts and crafts on the Timoks Alm.

Easter Saturday: Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel has a whole series of events lined up for Easter. Skiers and snowboarders can start off the day at the Kitzbühel Easter Gourmet Market (open until 2pm) and then move onto Aurach, where there is an Easter hike. The KitzSki area also offers Easter crafts, pony rides and a petting zoo for children, as well as fairy tales for the young and the young at heart.

Easter Sunday: Ischgl
Easter Sunday falls on April 1st this year, but this is no April Fool’s joke: Ischgl - Samnaun - Silvretta Arena will host former Voice of Germany participant Max Giesinger for its legendary Top of the Mountain Easter concert. The concert takes place at 1pm in a stunning open-air arena, the Idalp, right in the ski area. Keep skiing afterwards – you’ve 238km of slopes to choose from in this ski area that spans two countries.

Easter Sunday: Courchevel
Courchevel starts off Easter Sunday with a massive Easter egg/Haribo sweets hunt spread across various villages: Praz, Tania, Grangettes, Ariondaz, Verdons, Chenus and Jardins Alpin gondola lifts (9-11am). Following that, enjoy the Easter Street Parade (2pm) and Easter Dance Party on the snowfront (5pm). Courchevel 1300 is also hosting the White Ink Tattoo Show all day long. And in case you slept in, there is another Easter egg hunt at 5:30pm so you can finish the day off on a sweet note.

Easter Monday: Lech Zürs am Arlberg
Skiing and dancing somehow seem to belong together, don’t they? Or at the very least, après-ski and dancing. That’s why Lech Zürs am Arlberg is putting on the Tanzcafé, a two-week music festival with everything from swing melodies to rockabilly dancers, starting on Easter Sunday. The musical spectrum of this vintage music festival ranges from swing and jazz to rock ‘n roll to boogie woogie to electro swing to pop – truly something for everybody!

How's the snow at Easter?
With Easter so early this year and thanks to the incredible season we’ve been having, many ski areas are still absolutely smothered in the good stuff. Even at the beginning of April there should still be over a metre of snow in many alpine ski resorts. If you want to play it safe, choose a ski resort that’s connected to a glacier. You can check out spring deals on lift tickets and accommodation here and here. View current snow depths >
