Altaussee (Austria)

Beyond Bad Mitterndorf and the beautiful spa town of Bad Aussee is the equally beautiful village of Altaussee. This village is situated at 727 meters of altitude. Here, it seems as if time has stood still here. The salt mines are still worked by the miners and tradition is very important in this village. Altaussee is popular among writers and musicians giving this place a unique atmosphere.

The ski resort has a small ski area directly behind the village where there are two practice lifts. Just a little further on, you can access the Sandling-Loser ski area with a long run into the long valley. Like Tauplitzalm, this is a super starting point for guided ski tours in the Dead Mountains.
