This area, well-known among winter sports fans, with many family-run inns, offers a very interesting alternative for a ski holiday compared to some of its more expensive neighbours. Five minutes from the center of St. Johann in Tirol, a 6-seater cable car goes up to Harschichl. Given that most of the 60km of ski runs are found on the north side, good snow condititions remain long into the season.
This ski area is an excellent choice for groups of mixed ability skiers and more expert skiers can move towards more challenging ski slopes in neighbouring areas. The ski area pass 'Schneewinkel' opens up a wealth of other possibilities, including the ski areas of 10 other resorts, all linked by local bus services. The ski slopes in the Steinplatte area even allow you to ski across into Germany. St. Johann offers one of the longest cross-country ski circuits in Tyrol with over 75km of beautiful trails.
