This historical gold mining city has today become a very modern ski area offering an extremely wide range of runs for every taste. Situated in the Hohe Tauern National Park between the Gastein valley and Zell am See - amongst some of the highest mountains in Austria, Rauris is a well-kept secret. This is a great destination for beginners, for mixed level groups of skiers and snowboarders and for families.
With its easy slopes, ski schools with dedicated play areas and conveyor belt magic carpets, this is an excellent resort for families with young children. This doesn't mean the experts will get bored! They will find a variety of off-piste opportunities with altitude drops of 1200m! Even though the ski area is small, offering just over 30km of lovely slopes, the skiing is well-organised and very pleasant. Cross-country ski fanatics will find a valley dedicated to them not far from the resort.
