  • Three ski areas – something for everyone
  • A perfect destination for families, nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet

The Pillersee Valley in Tyrol is one of the most snow-sure ski regions in Austria, thanks to its natural setting. Located at the eastern edge of the Kitzbühel Alps, the valley is especially known for its family-friendly atmosphere. It is home to three ski areas, each with its own character and charm – all of them ideal for a winter sports holiday with children. In the Pillerseetal, you can ski in the Skicircus from Fieberbrunn, in Steinplatte-Winklmoosalm from Waidring, and on the Buchensteinwand near Hochfilzen, St. Jakob in Haus and St. Ulrich am Pillersee.

Reliable snow in the Pillerseetal

There is more than enough snow in the Pillerseetal every winter – in fact, this has been scientifically confirmed. Although the three ski areas don't reach extreme altitudes (ranging from 885 to 1,900 metres), they are still known for their excellent snow reliability. From the charming village of Fieberbrunn, you have direct access to more than 270 km of slopes in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn – or over 400 km if you include the SKI ALPIN Card connection to Zell am See-Kaprun. Fieberbrunn is not only very family-friendly but is also renowned as a true "freeride mecca". Steinplatte-Winklmoosalm offers just over 40 km of slopes, located on both the Austrian and German sides of the border, and is especially popular with families. The Buchensteinwand ski area is small but charming, with just over 20 km of slopes – perfect for families. A special highlight here is the 29.6-metre-high Jakobskreuz.

There’s plenty to enjoy off the slopes too. The region offers over 100 km of prepared winter hiking trails, tobogganing runs, llama trekking, and excellent cross-country skiing. The Pillerseetal is considered an eldorado for cross-country skiers and biathlon enthusiasts, with 100 km of trails for both classic and skating styles.
