Matrei in Osttirol (Austria)

Although Austria’s Matrei in Osttirol, with its 5000 inhabitants, gives off an almost urban impression, the medieval church is still the highest building in the entire village. This village is careful not to spoil its friendly character with high-rise blocks. Surrounded by the gigantic Grossglockner and Grossvenediger, lots of activities are possible all year round. In the summer you can take lovely walks, you can go cycling or rock climbing, during the winter you can ski or snowboard. Being so small, the village’s tranquillity is usually carefully protected.
