Galtür is a tranquil alternative to nearby Ischgl. In 1997, Galtür was the first municipality in Tyrol to receive the "climatic health resort" award. To this day, the village continues to offer a pristine landscape with pure mountain air. Galtür attracts skiers and snowboarders - and indeed anyone - looking for winter holidays away from the crowds.
If you don't feel the need for hundreds of kilometres of pistes and rowdy après-ski, then Galtür might be just the place for you. Two ski lifts just outside the village will bring you to the ski area, which has around 40km of slopes. The child-friendly ski area attracts many Austrian families. Different children's day care facilities exist, allowing parents to enjoy a few undisrupted ski sessions on the usually sunny ski slopes. This hidden jewel also has plenty of red slopes to offer intermediate skiers and snowboarders, as well as some great cross-country ski trails. Accommodation at Galtür comes in all shapes and sizes and you're sure to find something suitable whether with a group of friends or with the family.
