Challening cross-country skiing
Galtür has hardly been touched by winter tourism unlike many neighbouring ski resorts. With its relatively tranquil position at the end of the Paznaun Valley, it is particularly suitable for holidays with small children. Galtür is one of the highest resorts in Austria and the highest resort in the Silvretta Region.
It has its own pleasant ski area offering 40km of easy slopes and is linked to the magnificent Ischgl ski area by a frequent bus service (free with the lift pass). There are many interesting opportunities for beginners here and some great slopes for intermediate skiers looking to improve their skills. There is a good freestyle run suitable for expert skiers, but real diehard skiers and snowboarders are advised to make a trip to Ischgl. For cross-country skiing lovers there are various fantastic but quite demanding trails available.
