The southern Austrian state of Carinthia boasts 24 ski resorts and over 800 km of ski slopes. Its southern location assures relatively many hours of sunshine. The fact that the sun shines often does not mean you have to worry about snow and slope conditions. Even in the sunny south of Austria, there is usually plenty of snow. An advantage of winter sports holidays in Carinthia is that the masses have not yet discovered many of its ski resorts.
Carinthia has one glacier ski area. On the Mölltal Glacier, you can benefit from a long and snow-sure ski season. With 110 km of slopes, Nassfeld-Pressegger See is Carinthia's largest ski area and is ideal for winter holidays with children. Wellness lovers will enjoy the spa town of Bad Kleinkirchheim. Ever wanted to ski in Europe's largest pine forest? Then travel to Turracher Höhe. This ski resort is located on the border of Styria and Carinthia. Although Carinthia is a bit further away than, for example, Tyrol, its unique features make this state definitely worth considering.
