Achensee is the centre of this relatively small ski area. All around the lake, the landscape is dotted with small villages that together make up the ski area. The great attractions that the surroundings of Achensee offer, have compromised, to a certain extent the proverbial tranquility of these places. Wide choice and good value for money are what makes this valley one of the most sought-after ski holiday destinations in Austria. Five ski areas join together to make up a total of 55 kilometres of excellent pistes.
Although this ski area may seem small on paper, the extent and diversity once you're up on the slopes are surprising. There are runs suitable for all types of skiers, from beginners to experts along with many trails for cross-country skiing lovers. Due to the vast number of wide slopes, the ski areas in Achensee are particularly well-suited for families. There are some challenges here for expert skiers as well as snowboarders.
