Monts Jura: Convenient and family-friendly

The ski resort of Monts Jura lies a stone's throw from Geneva in the French region of Franche-Comté. Nestled in the Jura Mountains, which form the natural boundary with Switzerland, the ski area offers spectacular views of Geneva city. Explore the traditional Jura towns of Mijoux and Lélex-Crozet or branch out into the forest for some cross-country skiing. This little-known gem of a resort is the perfect size for an intimate family ski holiday. With affordable prices and such a convenient location, it just might be one of France’s best-kept secrets.

Three alpine skiing areas nestled in a protected mountain range

The Jura is a low-altitude mountain range, picturesque mountains up to 1680m high dotted with snowy trees. The ski resort of Monts Jura comprises three downhill ski areas: Lélex-Crozet, Mijoux-La Faucille and Menthières. Between the three of them, skiers and snowboarders have access to over 50 kilometres of pistes, with a maximum altitude change of 800m. For less snowy winters, the slopes are adequately provided for with state-of-the-art snowmaking technology. This means that you can enjoy the beautiful valley runs of Mijoux and Lélex-Crozet all winter long.

Family-friendly ski resort

The ideal place for a family ski holiday, Monts Jura offers 50% off lift tickets for children up to 15 years old when accompanied by two adults skiing on the same day. Three ski schools, including one international school, offer group or personalized ski lessons from the age of three years old. Of course, it’s never too late to brush up on your own skills as well! If you want the kids to have a fun time while you’re cruising the pistes, Monts Jura also has five nurseries from which to choose.

About Danielle

Born and raised in the ski paradise of Vancouver, Canada, I learned to ski before I can remember, balancing precariously on my parents’ skis as they sailed down the hill. I started snowboarding in my teens and am now delighted to be exploring everything Europe’s ski scene has to offer!
